Alexis Cate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has worked in New York City the entirety of her career. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Wagner College and went on to earn her Masters in Social Work Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
Alexis has experience working across all age groups treating a variety of psycho-social concerns, including: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, substance misuse, complex trauma, personality disorders, pervasive mental health disorders, suicidality, self-harm, community violence, and domestic/family violence.
Alexis is currently a Clinical Social Worker at an area hospital in the Bronx, NY and provides direct clinical care to adolescents and young adults (ages 14-24) combatting comorbid substance use and mental health disorders. She also provides Continuing Education courses through CEYou! Inc.
Alexis is a compassionate and highly motivated self-starter. She has a strong desire to empower the individuals and families with whom she works. Working under Michael Zampella, LCSW-R, Alexis provided clinical care at Silverlake Psychoptherapy, a private practice setting offering individual, couples, and family therapy. Here, Alexis begun her work in Dialetical Behavior Therapy.

Alexis began working in inpatient medicine as a unit social worker at Montefiore Medial Center in December 2016. She transitioned into her current position as a Clinical Social Worker with the Project Rising Program in March 2018. Alexis treats adolescents, young adults, and adults managing co-morbid substance use and mental health disorders. Her main therapeutic modalities are DBT, CBT, MI, CRAFT, and person centered psychotherapy.
Initially a Social Work Intern, Alexis was hired as a Counselor at Project Hospitality, Inc. provided group therapy to substance users managing co-occurring mental health concerns.

For just under two years, Alexis worked at Staten Island Mental Health Societies OMH and OASAS clinics providing individual and family therapy to children as young as 5 and adults as old as 55.
